Sweeping in Chichester.
Chichester's housing runs the full span, and so does the sweeping. Inside the old walls you have Georgian townhouses with tall, narrow flues serving fireplaces on three or four floors, several of which were closed off decades ago and reopened by someone who liked the look of them. Outside, the post-war and modern estates bring wood burners installed into chimney breasts that were never built for one.
The Georgian stock is the interesting work. A townhouse flue is often long, sharply angled where it doglegs around another room, and shared with a neighbour in ways that only become obvious when smoke appears somewhere it should not. If a room in a Pallants house smells of somebody else's fire, that is a flue integrity question rather than a sweeping one.
Out towards the harbour villages the picture changes again — lower buildings, more exposure, more salt in the air, and stacks that weather faster than the ones sheltered in town.

Smoke-draw & integrity testing
Shared and adjoining flues in the older terraced stock make leakage between properties a real question, not a theoretical one.
05
CCTV flue inspection
A fireplace that has been closed up and reopened needs looking at before the first fire, not after it starts smoking.
We do all six across Chichester — this is simply what the local building stock tends to throw up. See everything we take on.
