Sweeping in Woking.
Woking is a railway town — it grew because the line arrived, and its housing is overwhelmingly Victorian onwards, with a great deal of twentieth-century and modern development around a centre that has been substantially rebuilt.
That makes it, on the whole, the most conventional sweeping work in Surrey. Purpose-built flues of known age, fewer of the archaeological surprises that come with medieval fabric, and a large population of stoves and open fires installed within living memory.
The older suburbs at Horsell and Pyrford carry the Victorian and Edwardian villa stock, with the usual multiple flues per stack and the usual proportion of them long since abandoned. Heath at Horsell Common brings the softwood question to properties on that side of town.

02
Wood burners & multi-fuel stoves
Modern retrofitted stoves are the bulk of the work here, and regular use means twice-yearly sweeping.
03
Bird nests & cowl fitting
Abandoned flues on the older villas need capping properly rather than being left open.
