Chimney sweep in Winchester

Open fires, wood burners, multi-fuel stoves and thatch — swept, inspected and draw-tested, with the certificate emailed before we drive away. No call-out fee.

Sweeping in Winchester.

Winchester has the oldest and most heavily protected building stock on our round. Medieval fabric, a great deal of Georgian rebuilding, and an unusually high concentration of listed buildings in and around the cathedral close and the streets running off the High Street.

Listed status changes what can be done, not just what should be. Alterations to a flue, a liner installation, a new pot or a cowl on a listed building may need consent, and a sweep who suggests otherwise is doing you no favours. What we can always do is sweep it, inspect it, and tell you accurately what condition it is in — which is usually what is actually being asked.

The flues themselves are old, long and frequently altered, with abandoned routes alongside live ones in the same stack. Assumptions about which serves what are unreliable in buildings of this age.

Elsewhere in Hampshire.

Winchester sits on the same round as the rest of the county. No call-out fee anywhere on it.
